Clo. dodsonianum 'SVO' x Ctsm. tigrinum 'SVO II'
- Description
SVO 11059 - 3'' pot, Blooming Size.
Notes from the breeder:
The species Clowesia dodsoniana has produced only 6 registered hybrids to date, but these have won a surprisingly large number of awards. We thought we should get into the action with some hybrids too. Cl. dodsoniana 'SVO' flowers in July with each bulb producing 2-3 cascading inflorescences of 60-70 flowers in light green with darker green stripes. Ctsm. tigrinum is a very special species: it is small-growing and flowers several times a year with cascading inflorescences that each hold 20-30 white-cream blooms spotted lightly in red on the petals and sepals. Equally important are the shape and placement of its wide petals, which fill the space between the dorsal and lateral sepals, creating a full-shaped flower. This is a great characteristic, which is transmitted to its offspring, making for beautifully shaped flowers that are valuable in hybridizing and exhibiting. This mini-Clowesetum will flower at 4-6” tall and bear cascading inflorescences of 30 or more nicely shaped white flowers with light pink spotting. The long-lived flowers will be produced multiple times in both fall and winter. This promises to be a very charming hybrid!
