Ctsm. Double Down (Ctsm. Chuck Taylor x Ctsm. kleberianum) 'BPYL' is named for its Black Petals and  Yellow Lip. Its excellent color plus 15-17 flowers on a stem blooming twice a year make this a good candidate as a parent. Valerio Padilla (Ctsm. Melana Davison x Ctsm. Isobel's Sunshine) has flowers with a fantastic color contrast, deep burgundy petals, and sepals with a bright yellow lip. When both of these  plants are blooming the flower color draws you in for a closer look, even if you are across the greenhouse! That's what inspired the making of this cross. The progeny from this mating will bloom with dark, almost black petals and sepals, contrasted with bright yellow frilly lips. Plus, plants will flower with 15-20 well arranged blooms 2-3 times a season.
