Star Fire (Lc. Trick or Treat x Pot. Rubescence) 'Ruben’s Red' produces 7 well-presented flowers in solid, saturated red, and the ruffled red lip becomes darker red centrally. Spring Fires (Lc. Fires of Spring x Lc. Fire Island) has strong upright stems carrying 5-9 red-orange flowers with darker red lips. It is proving to be an excellent parent, with dominance for color, strong stems and bloom period. This promising grex is continuing a series of steps aimed at developing the perfect head of intensely-colored deep-red flowers held high on sturdy stems. We also have this in the reciprocal as SVO 9382, providing a good opportunity to evaluate the influence of capsule vs. pollen parent.
