The key building block in breeding for yellow flowers with red spots is Jungle Gem (Slc. Precious Stones x Lc Jungle Elf). This foundational hybrid has bright yellow flowers and clean red spots with a bright red lip and is one parent of Katherine Clarkson, the starting point for breeding modern yellow flowers with red spots. Jerry Spencer (C. Green Emerald x Slc. Katherine Clarkson) is a modern hybrid, with densely spotted flowers of excellent shape, hard waxy substance, and boldly contrasting lip color.  In this cross we are adding back the deep yellow background color and red spots of the Jungle Gem grandparent.  We predict that the progeny will have yellow flowers of waxy substance, boldly spotted in red, with bright red lips. Strong stems will do an excellent job displaying 3-5 flowers.
